We hold such sentiments as a charge: what more can be possible for FOREVER FLOURISHING?
What have we learned from this process, and what do we want to call others into? How might we contribute not only to a new narrative around Black single motherhood, but also to empowering all Black single mothers to believe they matter to this movement?

Being kind is revolutionary. Being considerate of other people is revolutionary. If anything would come from this that I would want the most, it would be not just that other moms can experience it, but that other organizations or other people would crop up to see how they could do the same…
The only way through this is together collectively. We all have our individual parts to play in a collective. It's not on any one of us.

Our next cohort will also include six mothers, because we are committed to care that’s honest about its limits and responsive to what’s needed.
This is not a stop on the way to something bigger — THIS IS the model.
And we are so motivated to create for the next season of Forever Flourishing.

Considering all of this, we are holding these QUESTIONS as we move forward:

Considering all of this, we are holding these QUESTIONS as we move forward:
Considering all of this, we are holding these QUESTIONS as we move forward:
Considering all of this, we are holding these QUESTIONS as we move forward:
How do we continue to talk about Black single mothers in ways that are honest, humanizing, and dignifying, without reinscribing the harm of deficit‑based narratives?
What stories do we tell that inspire resourcing without relying on pain or struggle as currency?
How do we honor that Black single mothers are not a monolith and ensure that each cohort’s unique needs are met with care, curiosity, and flexibility?
How do we grow our base of donors and financial partners who understand this as collective work, not charity, but shared responsibility?
How do we make the fundraising process itself feel like a continuation of our values, not just a means to an end?
How do we deepen our understanding of what care looks like—for different mothers, in different seasons—and adjust accordingly without overextending our small team?
How do we continue to offer high‑touch care without replicating systems of surveillance or over‑responsibility?
How do we keep our pace aligned with our values, resisting urgency and expansion for expansion’s sake?
What does sustainability look like when we define it not just in terms of finances, but in terms of care, energy, and wholeness?
How do we ensure our energy is directed at transforming the systems of harm, rather than internalizing their limitations as our own?

Initiatives like Forever Flourishing rise out of circles of love and care.
This first cohort of Forever Flourishing was a dream of dreams, one that could only be HELD by people with radical imagination and a deep commitment to Black single mothers and Black women as a whole.
For more than a year, the people listed below poured their time, energy, wisdom, and heart into building the foundation for this ecosystem. They dreamed, schemed, labored, and loved this offering into existence—with deep intention and unwavering care.
We are forever indebted to them for helping us bring the once-unimaginable to life.

We begin by acknowledging
THE MOTHERS because we
wouldn’t be here without them.
Our work stands on their shoulders and is
an extension of EVERY Black single mother

Thank you to everyone who has ever given to our organization, shared our work, followed us on social media, or spoken our name in rooms we weren’t in. Your support—whether financial, vocal, or quiet and steady—has helped sustain this work.
We honor all of you and thank you so much for journeying with us to materialize Forever Flourishing in its inaugural year.
